Last Snowfall (hopefully)

It snowed here yesterday, hopefully for the last time.  We decided to take advantage of the snow and go outside and play.  It was fun to see the kids run around in the snow, it seems like we haven't had much snow lately.

Of course, after playing in the snow we all needed some hot chocolate.  It's never complete without some whip cream on top.  Here's our favorite hot chocolate recipe.  It makes a bunch (but you can store it in the fridge for about a week), so I usually only make it for a party or in the dead of winter.  It's from the Favorites cookbook (Make-A-Wish Foundation) and it's super delicious.  We love this recipe and love the cookbook.  Anyone else out their own it?  If you don't, you should consider tracking it down, it's a good one!

French Hot Chocolate

3 (1 ounce) squares of Baker's semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 c. sugar

1 cup heavy cream, whipped
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cook chocolate and water over low heat until smooth and thick, stirring constantly. Add salt and sugar; cook for 5 minutes more. Cool completely.

Whip heavy cream (until really thick) and add vanilla. Fold into chocolate mixture. Store in refrigerator. To serve, add 2 heaping tablespoons (or more if you prefer) to a cup of hot milk. Stir and enjoy!

Your kids are so cute! That hot chocolate looks so good. I just don't know if I can do more than boiling water and pulling out the can of Stephen's. Ha ha. You are such a good mom.
