I recently finished reading The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski. It was a decent book, nothing to rave about but the premise seemed interesting. The story was predictable and contained some strong language so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. It was however a quick, easy read which was nice. Here's an excerpt from the cover jacket:
"Meet June Parker. She works for L.A. Rideshare, adores her rent-stabilized apartment in Santa Monica, and struggles with losing a few pesky pounds.
But June’s life is about to change.
After a dark turn of events involving Weight Watchers, a chili recipe and a car accident in which her passenger, Marissa, dies, June finds herself in possession of a list, “20 Things to Do By My 25th Birthday.” Even though they barely knew each other, June is compelled by both guilt and a desire to set things right to finish the list for Marissa.
The tasks before her range from inspiring (Run a 5K), to daring (Go braless), to near-impossible (Change someone’s life), and as June races to achieve each goal before the deadline, she learns more about her own life than she ever bargained for".
For me, one of the more fun things about the book was creating my own list. Here's a few things from MY list: 1) Run a 5k in under 30 minutes (the race is on July 3rd-wish me luck). 2) Go bungee jumping. 3) Order dessert first at a restaurant. 4) Take each of my kids, individually, on an overnight night date. 5) Stay in bed one morning until 8am. And the list goes on. My problem is, I only have 13 items on my list and I'd really like to have 20. So, if you made your own list, what would be on it? Do you have any suggestions for me as to what I could add to my list? My deadline for the items on my list is about 2 years, so I can't have anything really extravagant on it. No trips to France, no cruises, etc. Those are on my bucket list, just not this list. I'm especially interested if you have ideas that are free/low cost. Please give me some more ideas!

Not having read the book, I am not quite sure what you're looking for by way of suggestions. I will however try to steer you away from bungee jumping- what are you thinking, you are a mother of three! Instead, come on a hot air balloon ride with me. I know for the both of us it would be very difficult to go out into public without having gotten ready. Can you imagine? Stick with fun things like eating dessert first, cheers to that!
I think finishing Super Mario Brothers with all the Star coins should be on your list.
This sounds like a good book. I'm always looking for something new to read. Some suggestions:
1- Go sky diving
2- Pull an all nighter with movies and treats and of course the hubby. (send the kids off to families homes so you can sleep the next day).
3- Instead of just ordering dessert first, order many desserts on the menu and have that be your meal.
4- Learn a new hobby, such as croche, knitting, quilting, sewing/making clothes, something you don't know how to do.
That's all I can come up with now. I am going to have to make a list myself. :)
