Happy Easter!

We had such a great time yesterday, but I had one nagging thought: Is it just me, or has Christ been left out of this holiday? We often think of Christmas as being overcommercialized, but I think Easter is worse. Thank heavens we can go to church and be reminded of the purpose of the holiday. I'll admit I'm guilty of forgetting to put an emphasis on the Savior. Yesterday, the Easter bunny came and we had a great time but it seems like we didn't put as much emphasis on Christ as we would have at Christmas. I really want to do better. I thought about teaching the kids about the resurrection, but I really didn't want to teach them about death yet. I guess I just didn't know what to say, so I didn't say much at all. If any of you with young kids read this and have some suggestions for a Christ-centered Easter, please send your comments my way.

Regardless, we did have fun and loved spending the day as a family. Dave didn't have any meetings in the morning so it was nice to have him around for a little bit. The kids loved their candy and they each got a new book. The one we gave to Sophia was perfect. It is called, "No, No, Yes, Yes". It's all about the things that are "no no's" (like picking your nose, drawing on the walls, throwing food) and the things you should do (such as using a tissue, coloring on paper, etc). Sadly, we have experienced just about every "no, no" in the book so it seemed a good fit. We plan to read it DAILY! They loved the egg hunt and most of all, the candy inside. Yep, we love chocolate in this house!

Awww Heather you guys have the cutest kids!!! I love how adorable they look in their Easter outfits. And I am totally with you on trying to make Easter a more christ centered holiday, I was just telling my husband the same thing. I also need some good ideas on how to come about that with young kids. Thank goodness for church on Easter Sunday huh?

Hey guys! Welcome to world of blogging. I had no idea you did this too, but oddly figured it out through a site-tracker I have on our blog (it showed me what site you came from). The kids look cute! Marsha is coming along great...we are sure excited for him to come.

I think it was hard to focus on the resurrection this year especially because Easter was so early and spring hasn't completely started. Here, we still have a lot of snow on the ground, so talking about new life and that which was dead is now living again just seemed premature. I told the girls that we would try Easter again in a month when resurrection feels more imminent.

The kids are darling (don't you just love Hartstrings??)
