Dave and I went to a matinee on Saturday and really enjoyed watching Julie & Julia. It's a movie based on two true stories: Julie Powell who started a blog in 2002 called the Julie / Julia Project. She had an idea about 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' by Julia Child. Julie blogged about her day-to-day trials and tribulations mastering the various French recipes. It also chronicles Julia Child's life and how she started to learn to cook. Before the movie started, I teased Dave that he was going to have to show his Man Card, as the audience was 90% female. I suppose I should feel grateful that he was willing to see the movie with me. However, Dave does love cooking/cooking shows and served his mission in France, so he has a soft spot for French cuisine. I noticed him drooling at several points during the movie especially when they were cooking the Beef Bourguignon. We both really enjoyed the movie, it's fun, charming and inspiring. Has anyone else seen it? Did you like it too? Did it make you want to go to culinary school, like it did me? Of course, I don't particularly care for French cuisine, but I love a good dessert. Which reminds me, I still need to go to the Cheesecake Factory for some Red Velvet cake.

Oh! I've really wanted to see that. It just looked like such a "happy" movie. And I'm always amazed at what Meryl Streep can do.
Glad you enjoyed it--now you've made me want to see it even more. Dave, you're a good sport. Now you'll have to take Heather to some manly action flick to even the score. :)
Good to know you liked it. I've heard it got good reviews and we've been hoping to see it, but I think we might have to wait for the netflix version.
By the way, I loved you school post. Cute that Sophia was so excited! And I agree... it is much easier to errand run with less children.
Glad you (and Dave) liked it. I do have a quick and simple recipe for Beef Bourguignon if you're looking...and if Dave's drooling.
Do you owe him some manly movie now like GI Joe?
